An inspirational event celebrating the Reverend Dr. King, Jr.’s ideals and vision for a just society for all people: Speaker Gabriella Rosco organizes with CLUE-LA (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice–Los Angeles). She believes in the importance of working for systemic changes, and knows from personal experience that the meaningful way to address the root causes of injustice is through a social movement in which people of all faiths and cultures can stand united. Gospel vocalist Linda Alvarez will sing a medley of songs from the life of famed gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, with Dr. Severin Behnen on piano. This year’s Community Light Award recipient is the Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC) featured recently in Seascape and celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Student education awards, readings from Dr. King’s work, and dance performances are also featured.
