Take a journey through the North Atlantic on Saturday, July 22nd, when the Aquarium will be screening “The Smog of the Sea,” filmmaker Ian Cheney’s documentary chronicling a research expedition through the Sargasso Sea. Marcus Eriksen, Research Director and co-founder of the 5 Gyres Institute, assembled a unique crew of citizen scientists who sailed with him to study the fate of plastics in the world’s oceans. His crew included renowned surfers Keith & Dan Malloy, musician Jack Johnson, spear fisherwoman Kimi Werner, and bodysurfer Mark Cunningham.

The screening, scheduled for 4:15 pm, is included with Aquarium admission. Following the film, join a discussion on how to combat plastic pollution with Heal the Bay staff. Visitors can also enter for a chance to win a Kleen Kanteen Raffle Pack.

Free for kids 12 and under; all others: $5 admission; groups of 10 or more: $3 per person, regardless of age
