Presented by the City of Santa Monica and Sustainable Works
This Sustainable September, the City of Santa Monica is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Sustainable City Plan and our long-standing commitment to enhancing our resources, preventing harm to the natural environment and human health, and benefiting the social and economic well-being of the community for the sake of current and future generations. As we look back on the progress we have made over the years, it is also important to look ahead and design a sustainable and resilient community for the future.
Join us for a sunset chat as we discuss with local industry experts different strategies Santa Monica has taken the lead on.
Tom Ford, The Bay Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, will share the progress made on Santa Monica’s Beach Dune Restoration Project
Sunny Wang, Water Resources Manager at the City of Santa Monica, will discuss the City’s Sustainable Water Master Plan, SWIP and Water Recycling
Evelin Weber, Malibu Foundation’s Executive Director and co-founder, will talk about the new SM microforests project.
Prior to the discussion, join us for small bites and networking. If you like, take a sunset stroll through Santa Monica’s Beach Dune Restoration Project, one of Santa Monica’s coastal climate adaptation strategies.
A guided tour of the dunes will take place at 5:30pm for the first 25 people who sign up. You can register for the Dune Tour ticket just below the regular event ticket. The tour will take place 30 minutes before the networking portion of the Climate Resiliency event. The tour is only for those who are also going to the Climate Resiliency event. Please do not take a tour spot if you are not also going to the event.
